About me
Litsa Mouka, MBACP (Accred)
Integrative Counsellor
My training is in integrative counselling, which comprises of the psychodynamic, person-centred and psychosynthesis orientations. My work is relational and follows the Clarkson 5-strand model (the working alliance, transference/countertransference, person-to-person, reparative and the transpersonal dimension).
Relational meaning that the therapeutic relationship is an important part of the therapy. The quality of our relationships influences the quality of our wellbeing, and so the relationship with your therapist will impact the therapy. I am an active participant is what is going on in the room, in the client-therapist interaction, I respond in a real way, rather than the 'blank screen' of the psychoanalytic method. Furthermore I encourage talking about what might be going on in the therapeutic relationship, in the moment or generally. For example how something I said might have affected the client, or if I have noticed a rupture or an improvement is the alliance.

I work with the body in the way we experience our emotions, exploring the sensations that they bring to our bodies. Notice, how our body language conveys or state. As well as the intercommunication between out body and mind, how the way we feel affects how we hold our body and how the way we hold our body affects how we feel.
Connecting with the client in order to understand their unique experience, and so be better able to help acknowledge their needs and gain a better understanding of
themselves.

Each client is different and has different needs. With careful consideration,
I tailor my approach, to use whatever elements from each orientation I deem more appropriate to your needs, at the time. As your needs change, so does my approach. Above all, I offer a warm and non-judgemental attitude to build a trusting and nurturing therapeutic relationship.
I am a qualified counsellor and a registered accredited member of the BACP.
